Syncing Google and Outlook Calendars

Problem

I have calendars in both Google Calendar and Outlook. How can I sync them?

Solution

There is no native support to completely (bi-directionally) sync the two calendar systems. However, your Google calendar can be pulled into Outlook and viewed. This will sync events added to Google Calendar with Outlook, but it does NOT sync Outlook events with Google.

Another alternative is to invite yourself to newly created events. So if you create an event in Google calendar, you also invite yourself by your Outlook email address, and vice-versa. This doesn't actually sync the calendars, it just sends the newly created calendar event to both of them so that they will each show the event.

It is also possible to add multiple calendars to mobile devices. When both accounts are added to the mobile device, the device's own calendar displays events from all of the installed calendars in one place. This does not sync them at all, but does provide one place to view them.
